HealthTrackRx and UPS Healthcare: Revolutionizing Infection Diagnostics & Treatment Across the Nation
HealthTrackRx • Dec. 6, 2024
At HealthTrackRx, the nation’s premier molecular diagnostic laboratory for infectious diseases, our mission is simple: Getting People Healthier Faster. Today, we’re proud to share how our expanded partnership with UPS Healthcare is helping us fulfill this mission by delivering next-morning PCR testing to clinicians nationwide.
The Problem with Traditional Infection Treatment
Historically, treating routine infections has been a slow and imprecise process. Patients often receive broad-spectrum antibiotics before the root cause of their symptoms is determined. This guess-and-treat approach not only delays effective treatment but has also fueled the overprescription of antibiotics, contributing to the rise of antibiotic-resistant infections—an escalating public health crisis even before COVID-19.
A Faster, Smarter Solution
HealthTrackRx is changing this outdated model through the power of RT-PCR technology, a molecular diagnostic tool that can rapidly identify infections, whether they’re bacterial, viral, or fungal and if they’re resistant to common antibiotics.
Our focus is simple: deliver actionable results quickly enough to transform how clinicians treat infections. Initially, we streamlined our processes to provide results within 24-48 hours of sample collection. Even though this was far faster than the 3-14 days required for traditional culture testing, this timeline wasn’t fast enough to change prescribing behaviors.
Scaling with UPS Healthcare
In mid-2022, we launched a pilot program in partnership with UPS Healthcare, setting up a small lab in Louisville, Kentucky. UPS began transporting patient samples to our lab as early as 1 a.m. each night, allowing us to deliver next-morning results. The success of this pilot was undeniable and led us to move our base of operations to Louisville, leveraging UPS’s unparalleled logistics network.
Today, HealthTrackRx is proud to serve clinicians from Miami to Seattle, Maine to Omaha, and everywhere in between. From urban centers to rural clinics, our partnership with UPS ensures that clinicians nationwide receive a comprehensive molecular report just hours after collecting a patient sample.
The Impact
By early 2024, HealthTrackRx was serving over 5,000 clinics and over 100,000 patients each month. Nearly half of the clinicians we work with now wait for our results before prescribing, ensuring patients receive the most effective treatment from the start.
Transforming Patient Care
This expanded partnership with UPS has not only scaled our reach but fundamentally changed how tens of thousands of providers diagnose and treat infections. Millions of patients are now benefiting from faster, more accurate diagnostics and Getting Healthier Faster thanks to the partnership between HealthTrackRx and UPS.
As we continue to grow and innovate, our commitment to improving patient care remains unwavering. Together with our partners, we’re leading the charge in transforming infection treatment across the nation.
